Below is a brief outline of the trip.
|Friday Sept. 27: Arrive in Syracuse, NY. A shuttle van will be waiting to take you to our hotel. We will hold a short fireside this evening and discuss our upcoming trip itinerary.
|Saturday Sept. 28: We will spend a full day seeing the sites in Palmyra. Our stops will include the Sacred Grove, the Smith Family Farm, the rebuilt log home where the Moroni visits took place, the Visitor’s Center, the Hill Cumorah, the Grandin Press (where the Book of Mormon was first published), the Martin Harris Farm, the Palmyra Cemetery, and the exterior of the Palmyra Temple. We have set aside two hours this morning for you to enjoy the Sacred Grove on your own. There will also be time to attend the Palmyra Temple for those interested. (Breakfast and Lunch provided)|
|Sunday Sept. 29: We will begin our day by attending Sacrament Meeting with a local ward before journeying to the Susquahanna River and the Priesthood Restoration Site. It was here that the Priesthood was restored and where most of the Book of Mormon was translated. The Church has recently completed the rebuilding of Joseph and Emma’s home, installing new statues and historical markers, and building a new Visitor’s Center. Be one of the first to tour these new features of this sacred site! Our day will conclude in Fayette, NY at the Peter Whitmer Farm. This is where the Church was officially organized. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided)|
|Monday Sept. 30: We will make a brief return stop to the Sacred Grove this morning to again enjoy that wonderful place. Then, it is on to Niagara Falls where we will ride the Maid of the Mist for an up close view of the majestic falls. The boat ride and a lunch buffet from a restaurant overlooking the falls are both included in the price of the tour. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided)
|Tuesday Oct. 1: Our full day in Kirtland begins with a private tour of the interior of the Kirtland Temple. Throughout the day, we will also visit the Kirtland Visitors’ Center, the Newell K. Whitney home where Joseph and Emma lived, the Newell K. Whitney store which included the School of the Prophets and where many revelations (including the Word of Wisdom) were received, the John Johnson Inn where the Church periodical The Evening and Morning Star was published, the reconstructed Kirtland Schoolhouse, the Kirtland Ashery and a reconstructed water-powered sawmill, a home of the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Chaplin Forest Stone Quarry where much of the stone for the Kirtland Temple was obtained, and the Morley Farm where the first missionaries were sent out from and where the first High Priest were ordained. Later in the day, we will travel to Hiram, Ohio and visit the John Johnson Farm. It was here that Section 76 was received.
