Join Tom Pettit on this spiritual and uplifting Church History Tour to Oahu, Hawaii. Hear Tom tell the historical accounts, the stories, and the faith filled details of Church History in the South Pacific Islands. Missionaries were first sent to the islands in 1844 and this history is full of fascinating accounts that will uplift and inspire you! Below is a brief outline of the trip.
January 26: Today you will fly to Honolulu, Hawaii. After your arrival, you will check into our Waikiki Beach resort hotel. Let us know if you want to fly with the group from Salt Lake.

January 27: We will spend a full day seeing, and enjoying, some of the most popular sites of Hawaii. Our day begins at Pearl Harbor where we will visit the USS Arizona Memorial. Next, it is off to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet where you are certain to find a wonderful lunch and great Hawaii souvenirs. Later, we will visit the Dole Pineapple Plantation. On our way to the North Shore, we will stop at Sunset Beach and witness professional surfers conquer monstrous waves. Our day concludes like the locals: eating dinner at the famous North Shore Food Truck Park. Our hotel for the next four nights sits on the coastline near the Brigham Young University-Hawaii campus. While travling, Tom Pettit will recount the incredible history of the Hawaiian Island and the people who have lived their for centuries. (Breakfast provided) |

January 28: Our day begins by attending Sacrament Meeting with a local Ward. After lunch, we will enjoy a sightseeing island tour. We will visit some of the most picturesque sites on the island of Oahu. While traveling, Tom Pettit will share the historical stories of the Church in the South Pacific Islands. Missionaries were first sent to the islands in 1844 and this history is full of fascinating accounts that will uplift and inspire you! Our day will conclude at the Laie, Hawaii Temple and Visitors’ Center. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided)

January 29: This morning will begin with a presentation from Tom Pettit which will include more stories of the history of the Church in the Polynesian islands. Afterwards, we will visit the world famous Polynesian Cultural Center. Check out this video for all the details! Before the Cultural Center opens after lunch, you many choose to enjoy some of the hotel’s many amenities. Besides being across the street from a beautiful beach, the hotel also offers a swimming pool, pickleball court, and tennis court. The hotel has an Activity Desk where you can rent all your beach gear (snorkel equipment, chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, surfboards, etc.) The Activity Desk can also assist you in coordinating ziplining, horseback riding, and surfing. Once at the Polynesian Cultural Center, enjoy visiting six islands to learn and participate in their unique customs and cultures. Once the Center closes, be treated to an all-you-can-eat buffet before being mesmerized by the “HA: Breath of Life” evening show. (Breakfast and Dinner provided) |

January 30: This morning will begin with a presentation from Tom Pettit which will include more stories of the history of the Church in the Polynesian islands. Today is your day to do as you would like! Yesterday’s admission ticket to the Polynesian Cultural Center allows you to return again today. You may want to attend the Laie, Hawaii Temple which is very close to our hotel. You may choose to have a relaxing beach day and do nothing else at all. The Activity Desk at the hotel has plenty of offerings to keep you busy at the hotel. Or, you may choose to schedule out your day to do it all! We will also have an optional excursion which includes a hike to Waimea Falls, and time at the famous Waimea Bay beach. Golfing at Turtle Bay Resort is not too far from the hotel. We will have a catered dinner at Brigham Young University-Hawaii. (Breakfast and Dinner provided)

January 31: You can start your day by doing some of the things you missed out on yesterday, or by repeating some of your favorite things you did! After lunch, we will depart as a group for Honolulu. Along the way, we will make stops at the famous Macadamia Farm, and other gorgeous scenery areas. Once in Honolulu, we will board the Star of Honolulu for a dinner cruise along the breathtaking coastline of Waikiki. The cruise includes dinner and a Polynesian Show. Later, we will arrive at our hotel. (Breakfast and dinner provided) | ![]() |
February 1: Start your day with a huge breakfast buffet at the hotel. Then, depending on your flight, you can enjoy the beautiful area around the hotel including shopping, site seeing, and Waikiki Beach before heading to the airport for your flight home. Let us know if you would like to extend your vacation and book extra nights at the hotel. (Breakfast provided)

Tom’s unique focus on these tours is not to just teach the history, but to help you draw closer to the Savior by applying the lessons learned from these historical events to your own daily life. Tom has become a student of the information taught on this and other Church history tours. He has been teaching the gospel to youth and adults continuously for the last 25 years by serving in various Church callings. Group Flights: You may choose to fly with the group and let us do the booking for you. Group space is secured on Southwest Airlines for roundtrip flights from/to Salt Lake City. The cost for roundtrip airfare is $699, which is in addition to the cost of the tour. You do not have to fly with the group. If you choose not to fly with the group, you will need to make your own flight arrangements.
Flights: If you are not flying with the group, you will need a flight to Honolulu (HNL) on January 26, 2024. You will also need a flight home on February 1, 2024. We can help make hotel reservations for you if you choose to arrive a day or two early, or extend your vacation at the end of the tour.
Ground Transportation: Uber is usually the easiest and least expensive way to travel between the hotel and the airport. We will provide ground transportation details and options for you so you can easily make your arrangements.
Booking Requirements: An initial payment of $300, per person, is required to confirm your reservations. This payment is applied to your total amount due.
Terms and Conditions: All rates are per person and based on hotel room occupancy. Prices listed are cash/check prices. If you wish to pay by credit card, the bank’s 2.9% transaction fee will be added to your final balance. There is no fee to use a card when registering.
Temples: You will have the opportunity to attend the Laie, Hawaii Temple during the tour if you make your own appointment.
Buses: Our deluxe chartered bus provides the best comfort available for our journey. We only charter the best buses and also the best professional drivers. We will only take one bus on each tour. Having one bus allows our guide (Tom Pettit) to spend the whole day with you telling the history, doctrine, and stories. Plus, if you join a tour with more than one bus, you end up spending all of your time waiting in line for meals and the restroom!
